HVAC Google Ads management: Search and LSA run for booked jobs, not clicks

HVAC Google Ads management is the ongoing running of a heating and cooling contractor's Google Search, Local Services Ads (LSA) and Performance Max campaigns, from account structure and seasonal budgets to call tracking and landing pages. We manage HVAC accounts for a flat fee from $1,500 a month, reported to cost per booked job. Ad spend is paid directly to Google.

What does HVAC Google Ads management include?

HVAC Google Ads management at Paradigm Media Networks covers six workstreams every month: service-line account structure, the LSA and Search budget split, seasonal budget rules, landing pages, call tracking with booked-job import, and weekly reporting.

Key takeaways

  • Cost per booked job equals cost per lead divided by book rate. On SearchLight Digital's January 2026 HVAC data, a $149 non-branded search lead at a 37.6% book rate works out to about $396 per booked job, while a $34 branded lead at 55.3% works out to about $61.
  • Google ranks Local Services Ads on bid, likelihood of a lead (including how responsive you are) and profile quality, which includes rating, review count and response time. Budget alone does not buy the top slot.
  • Google stopped allowing new call-only ads in February 2026 and they stop serving in February 2027. HVAC accounts still running them need responsive search ads with call assets now.
  • Our Google Ads-only management runs $1,500, $3,000 or $5,000 a month by spend band. Ad spend is never part of the fee.
  • We are the wrong fit for accounts spending under roughly $3,000 a month in media, because Smart Bidding needs about 30 conversions a month per campaign to learn.

Tracking is rebuilt before any bid changes, because Smart Bidding can only optimize toward the conversions it is shown.

What does a booked HVAC job actually cost through Google Ads?

A booked HVAC job from Google Ads costs your cost per lead divided by your book rate. That is why we report cost per booked job rather than cost per lead: a cheap lead that rarely books can cost more per job than an expensive one that usually does.

The table applies that formula to SearchLight Digital's HVAC Google Ads benchmark (January 2026 data, 816 contractors, $14.9M of tracked Google Ads spend), also summarized in our HVAC marketing benchmarks.

Campaign typeCost per leadBook rateCost per booked job (CPL ÷ book rate)What we do with it
Branded search$3455.3%about $61Always run; defends your name
Performance Max$7232.2%about $224Add only after Search tracking is clean
Blended Google Ads$10441.7%about $249The reference point for planning
Non-branded search$14937.6%about $396Where structure and landing pages decide the result

Four steps from tracked HVAC leads to cost per booked job: track, import booked jobs, divide by book rate, budget to it
The four steps that turn raw leads into a cost per booked job you can bid and budget against.

Worked example. Smart Bidding needs roughly 30 conversions a month per campaign to learn. At the $104 blended cost per lead, 30 leads cost about $3,120 in media. That is why our entry plan is built for HVAC accounts spending $3,000 to $5,000 a month with Google.

How should HVAC Google Ads budgets change through the year?

HVAC Google Ads budgets should rise ahead of the cooling and heating peaks and fall, but never stop, in spring and fall. Cooling searches climb from March and April and heating searches build from September, so campaigns and landing pages have to be live before the weather turns.

The month-by-month demand curve is on our HVAC marketing agency page. How we manage it in practice:

  1. Set the seasonal plan in writing each quarter. Budget by campaign for the next three months, built from your own market's search history, because a Phoenix AC season and an Ohio AC season do not peak together.
  2. Reduce shoulder-month budgets instead of pausing. A paused campaign loses the conversion history Smart Bidding has learned.
  3. Judge results year over year. January against last January, not against December.
  4. Shift creative with the season. Maintenance plan and tune-up offers in shoulder months, repair and replacement in peaks.

Seasonal budget rules we apply in HVAC accounts: raise ahead of each peak, reduce in shoulder months, never pause.

Are call-only ads still worth running for HVAC?

No new call-only ads can be created. Google removed the option to create call ads in February 2026, and existing call-only ads stop serving in February 2027; the replacement is responsive search ads with call assets.

Every account we take over gets a call-ad audit in week one, and any live call-only ads are rebuilt as responsive search ads with call assets and call tracking before the 2027 cut-off.

What happens in the first 90 days?

The first 90 days of HVAC Google Ads management move from tracking to structure to bidding. Campaigns are live within 14 days, and cost per booked job usually settles between day 45 and day 60, once Smart Bidding has enough real booked-job conversions.

Who should not hire us for HVAC Google Ads?

Paradigm Media Networks is the wrong HVAC Google Ads agency in three situations, and we would rather say so before you sign.

  • Your media budget is under about $3,000 a month. Below that, campaigns rarely reach the conversion volume Smart Bidding needs, and our fee becomes a large share of total spend. Start with LSA and your Google Business Profile, and use our free setup guide.
  • You cannot answer the phone in peak season. Paid search buys calls. If calls go to voicemail, the fix is dispatch capacity, not a bigger budget.
  • You want the cheapest possible leads regardless of booking. Shared-lead marketplaces will quote a lower lead price. We manage to cost per booked job.

Why hire an HVAC Google Ads agency instead of in-house?

An HVAC Google Ads agency is worth paying when the account needs more weekly attention than an owner or office manager can give in peak season, and when someone needs to connect ads data to booked jobs in the CRM.

In-house works if you have a person with time to review search terms weekly, maintain call tracking and import booked jobs.

What makes Paradigm Media Networks different from a PPC-only vendor is that we also run SEO, AI search visibility and websites. Search-term reports tell the SEO team which services and cities convert, so those pages get built first, and once a page ranks we can reduce paid bids instead of paying for clicks you already win organically. That connection is the core idea on our HVAC marketing agency page.

Proof, stated honestly. We do not yet publish an HVAC paid search case study; ask us on the call for a walk-through of a comparable account. Our published HVAC result is organic: a single-location contractor went from 10 to 12 inbound calls a month to consistently 80+ within four months, with Google Business Profile views up 320% and $0 ad spend (HVAC case study). It shows how we build the pages and profile that paid clicks land on. It does not prove anything about paid search, and we do not present it that way.

HVAC Google Ads management FAQ

How much should an HVAC company spend on Google Ads?

Enough for each campaign to record about 30 conversions a month, which for most HVAC markets means $3,000 to $5,000 a month in media. At SearchLight Digital's January 2026 blended figure of $104 per lead, 30 leads cost about $3,120. Spend above that should follow your capacity to take calls and the seasonal plan, not a fixed share of revenue.

Is ad spend included in the $1,500 fee?

No. The $1,500 Foundation fee covers our management of Search and Local Services Ads for accounts spending up to $5,000 a month. Ad spend is billed by Google to your own payment method, so every dollar is visible in your account and stays yours if you leave.

What do you charge for ad spend between $15,000 and $30,000 a month?

That band is quoted individually. We scope it on the free audit call from the Growth and Scale inclusions your account needs, and confirm the fee in writing before any work starts.

Do you manage Local Services Ads as well as Google Search?

Yes. LSA management is part of every HVAC plan: profile and verification checks, service and job-type settings, weekly lead feedback, review and response-time work, and a quarterly decision on which job types LSA should win and which Search should cover, judged on cost per booked job.

How long before HVAC Google Ads produce booked jobs?

Calls usually start in the first two weeks once campaigns are live. Cost per booked job normally settles between day 45 and day 60, after Smart Bidding has seen enough booked-job conversions and the first landing page test has run. Seasonal accounts are judged against the same month last year.

Should HVAC companies use Performance Max?

Only after Search tracking is clean. In SearchLight Digital's January 2026 data, Performance Max had the lowest non-branded cost per lead at $72 but also the lowest book rate at 32.2%. We add it on the Growth plan with brand exclusions, once booked-job data is flowing back into the account.

Who owns the Google Ads account and call tracking numbers?

You do. We work inside your Google Ads, LSA, GA4 and call tracking accounts with admin access granted to us. If you end the engagement, the account history, conversion data and tracking numbers stay with your business.
