Perplexity SEO services increase how often Perplexity lists your pages in the numbered sources under its answers. We confirm PerplexityBot can crawl you, rebuild key pages so each passage answers a buyer question, earn coverage on the video, community and editorial sources Perplexity leans on, and track your citation share on a fixed prompt set.

Perplexity SEO services are paid programs that increase how often Perplexity cites a brand's pages, and names the brand accurately, when users ask questions in its category.
Perplexity is an AI answer engine that searches its own web index, writes an answer, and attaches numbered footnotes linking to the original sources. Perplexity optimization works on crawl access, passage-level clarity, freshness, and presence on the third-party sources Perplexity pulls into the same answers.
Perplexity SEO is one engine inside a larger AI search program. Use the table to pick the right page for what you need.
| What you need | Page | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| A team to get you cited in Perplexity | Perplexity SEO services (this page) | PerplexityBot access, Perplexity's index and source mix, citation share tracking, the work and the price |
| To do it yourself | How to rank in Perplexity AI | Step-by-step content, schema and freshness guide |
| A tool to track Perplexity citations | Perplexity rank tracking tools | 8 trackers compared on cited-URL logging, mode and cost per prompt, plus a free manual method |
| Citations across every AI engine | GEO services | Full generative engine optimization program across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, Gemini, Perplexity and Copilot |
| ChatGPT specifically | ChatGPT SEO services | OpenAI crawlers, Bing, ChatGPT's source mix and shopping |
| AI-era SEO across Google and AI engines | AI SEO services | Retrieval-ready content, entity SEO and AI-assisted SEO execution |
The deciding question is whether Perplexity is where your buyers research. It skews to research-heavy users who want sources they can check, which makes it most valuable for B2B, SaaS, finance, health-adjacent and technical categories.
Perplexity searches its own index, scores small pieces of each page against the question, and cites the passages it uses as numbered footnotes.

Perplexity says its index covers hundreds of billions of webpages and that documents are split into fine-grained units that are individually scored against the query. That is why a well-structured section deep inside a long page can be cited while the page's intro is ignored.

Three things follow for Perplexity optimization:
Allow PerplexityBot if you want to be cited; understand that Perplexity-User works differently. Perplexity documents two agents.
| Perplexity agent | What it does | Follows robots.txt? | Our default recommendation |
|---|---|---|---|
| PerplexityBot | Surfaces and links websites in Perplexity search results. Perplexity says it is not used to crawl content for AI foundation models | Perplexity recommends allowing it in robots.txt to appear in results; changes can take up to 24 hours | Allow, and allowlist the IP ranges Perplexity publishes in its perplexitybot.json file at your firewall or CDN |
| Perplexity-User | Visits a page when a user's question needs it, then links to that page in the answer. Perplexity says it is not used for crawling or training | Perplexity says it generally ignores robots.txt because a user requested the fetch | Do not block unless you have a security reason; use the published perplexity-user.json IP ranges to verify real traffic |

The access problem we see most often is a firewall or bot-protection rule that challenges PerplexityBot while robots.txt allows it. Perplexity calls its JSON IP files the source of truth for firewall configuration, so we automate checks against them rather than hard-coding addresses.
Perplexity cites many sources per answer and draws heavily on video, community and reference sites, not only brand websites. In PMN's AI Search Citation Study 2026, built on the Search Arena dataset (UC Berkeley and LMArena, March to May 2025, using Perplexity's Sonar API), Perplexity averaged 12.1 sources per answer. YouTube took 7.8% of its citations, Reddit 4.5% and Wikipedia 3.2%. ChatGPT search cited 0.0% YouTube and 0.0% Reddit in the same data.

That data comes from Perplexity's API in 2025, so treat it as a baseline rather than today's consumer app. The direction is the useful part: if Perplexity answers your buyers' questions with YouTube walkthroughs and Reddit threads, a Perplexity SEO program needs a plan for both.
Comet puts Perplexity inside the browser, so the same crawl access and citable pages now matter during browsing as well as search. Comet is Perplexity's AI browser, made free for everyone in October 2025. In August 2025 Perplexity announced Comet Plus, a $5-a-month subscription that pays participating publishers 80% of its revenue, from a $42.5 million initial pool, based on traffic from Comet search results and the Comet Assistant. Its earlier Publishers Program, launched in 2024, shares ad revenue with dozens of partners.
For most service businesses, Comet does not need separate work. For publishers and content-led brands, the revenue share is a reason to make sure Perplexity can reach and attribute your pages correctly.
The free AI Visibility Checker covers crawler access and 14 other citation signals.
Our Perplexity SEO services cover six workstreams, delivered by one team and reported against a fixed baseline.

Perplexity visibility is measured as citation share: the percentage of prompt runs in which Perplexity cites one of your URLs.
Perplexity lists its sources under every answer, so unlike ChatGPT, you can see the exact page that earned the citation. Answers still vary between runs, so each prompt is run several times per check.
| Metric | How it is calculated | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Citation share | Runs citing your domain divided by total runs | The closest thing to a "ranking" in Perplexity |
| Cited URL | Which of your pages was cited, and its footnote number | Shows which page format to replicate |
| Mention rate | Runs naming your brand, with or without a link | Catches brand mentions that come from other sites' pages |
| Competitor share | Citation share for your top three competitors on the same prompts | Turns gaps into a to-do list |
| Perplexity referral sessions | GA4 sessions from perplexity.ai, with conversions | Connects citations to leads |

We also record which Perplexity mode is checked. Some trackers only test the default Quick Search, not Pro Search, which matters if many of your buyers pay for Perplexity. Our comparison of Perplexity rank tracking tools covers which tools log cited URLs.
Moving Hub went from zero AI presence at the start of 2026 to being named by 5 AI assistants, including Perplexity.

Moving Hub is a USDOT-licensed US long-distance mover that owns its trucks. It started the year with no organic traffic, on page three for the searches that book moves, with 68 referring domains.
The work combined a technical rebuild (canonicals, duplicates, schema), answer-first cost and route guides, about 300 programmatic route and city pages, digital PR, and a fixed prompt set tracked monthly across ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, AI Overviews, Perplexity and Gemini.
| Result | Figure | Source and window |
|---|---|---|
| AI assistants naming the brand | 5, including Perplexity | Fixed prompt set, checked monthly |
| AI citations (Microsoft Copilot and partners) | 2,460 in 90 days | AI Performance report, 28 June to 6 September 2026. Not a Perplexity figure |
| Referring domains | 68 to 450 | Backlink index, 2026 |
| Ranked keywords | 600+ in four months | Rank tracking, 2026 |
| Time to first AI citations | Roughly 3 to 4 months | Project timeline |
The 2,460 figure comes from an AI Performance report that covers Microsoft Copilot and partners over a 90-day window. It does not count Perplexity citations. Perplexity is tracked through the fixed prompt set. Ask us on the call for a walk-through of a comparable account.
Perplexity SEO is part of our GEO retainers, which typically run $2,000 to $10,000+ per month.
The price depends on how many prompts and markets you need covered, how much page work is needed, how far behind competitors you are on the sources Perplexity cites, and whether you track Perplexity alone or every AI engine.
| What drives the cost | Lower end | Higher end |
|---|---|---|
| Prompt set | 20 to 30 prompts in one market | 100+ prompts across several markets or product lines |
| Page work | A handful of pages need passage-level rewrites | Many pages need rebuilding, plus a refresh calendar for data-heavy content |
| Off-site gap | Already cited on some category sources | Competitors own the YouTube, Reddit and editorial sources Perplexity cites |
| Engines tracked | Perplexity only | Perplexity plus ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, AI Mode and Gemini |
Start with the free AI Visibility Checker and the 45-run manual test in our tracking tools guide. If the gap is mainly a blocked crawler or a few weak pages, a short fix may be all you need, and we will tell you.
A fixed monthly price, built from your own prompts and gaps.
Crawl fixes register within about a day; consistent citation share usually builds over several months.
Perplexity says robots.txt changes can take up to 24 hours to take effect, and firewall changes need log checks to confirm. Rewritten passages can be picked up as soon as Perplexity re-crawls the page. Moving Hub's first AI citations across engines arrived after roughly 3 to 4 months, once rebuilt pages and PR placements were live. Off-site coverage on YouTube, Reddit and editorial lists takes longest, because it depends on other people.

Perplexity SEO is worth it when your buyers research with sources in hand before they shortlist, and when Perplexity cites competitors for your category questions.
Perplexity's CEO Aravind Srinivas said in June 2025 that it handled 780 million queries in May 2025. That is smaller than Google or ChatGPT, but the users skew toward research and comparison, which is where buying decisions form.
The tracking can be done in-house; the off-site work and the passage-level rewrites are where in-house teams usually stall.
A marketer can run 45 prompt runs a month in a spreadsheet. Earning a place on the YouTube videos, Reddit threads and editorial lists Perplexity cites takes video production, community time and PR relationships, often across three different people who never talk.
Jahid Hussain's view, from running these projects, is that optimizing for AI search is still SEO, but not equally for every model. He sees two things separate brands that get cited: technical hygiene, and writing that is genuinely human rather than AI filler. The most common mistake he sees is mass-producing AI-written pages and hoping volume earns citations.
Paradigm Media Networks runs SEO, GEO, content, creative and paid media as one system, so the YouTube video, the rewritten page and the PR placement Perplexity needs come from one plan.
The AI Search Citation Study 2026 analyzed nearly 370,000 citations, including Perplexity's source mix, with the method and limits stated.

No. Perplexity runs its own search index, which it says covers hundreds of billions of webpages, and ranks fine-grained pieces of pages against each question. Ranking well in Google still helps, because the same qualities tend to earn both: Ahrefs found 28.6% of the URLs Perplexity cited also ranked in Google's top 10 for the query.
PerplexityBot, the crawler that surfaces sites in Perplexity results, follows robots.txt, and changes can take up to 24 hours. Perplexity-User, which fetches a page when a user's question requires it, generally ignores robots.txt because a person requested the visit. Perplexity publishes IP ranges for both so you can verify the traffic.
Perplexity SEO focuses on one engine: PerplexityBot access, Perplexity's own index, its passage-level ranking and its source mix. GEO (generative engine optimization) is the full program across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, Gemini, Perplexity and Copilot. Paradigm Media Networks prices Perplexity work inside a GEO retainer.
No. Perplexity writes each answer fresh and its source list can change between runs, so no one controls a citation. We commit to a measured baseline, the fixes that remove known blockers, and monthly citation share reporting on a fixed prompt set, so you can judge progress on evidence.
Often, yes, depending on your category. In the 2025 Search Arena data, YouTube and Reddit together made up about 12% of Perplexity's citations. If Perplexity answers your buyers' questions with videos and threads, a clear video on your most common comparison and honest, named participation in relevant communities belong in the plan.
Run 10 to 20 buyer prompts three times each in a logged-out private window and note every cited URL. Divide the runs that cite you by total runs to get citation share. Our Perplexity rank tracking guide explains the free method and the tools that automate it.
