Local SEO pricing for single and multi-location businesses shown on a map with location pins

Local SEO pricing in 2026 is usually $500 to $2,500 a month for one location. Ahrefs surveyed 439 SEO providers and found local work averages $1,557 a month, or $1,819 if you hire an agency. More locations? You pay a fixed base plus a fee for each branch. The total goes up. The cost per branch should go down.

Key Takeaways:

  • Ask every agency to split its quote into a base fee and a per-location fee. If it can’t, it hasn’t looked at your locations.
  • Setup is the part people forget. Profiles, citations and location pages all cost money once per branch.
  • $1,500 a month is fine for one location. Across five, it’s $300 each. Not enough.
  • Once you have 10 or more profiles, Google lets you verify them in bulk. Onboarding should get cheaper.

Pricing local SEO for one shop is simple. Open a fifth branch and the quotes stop adding up. One agency wants five times its old fee. Another wants the same fee and promises to “cover everything.” Neither shows its working, so we’ll show ours.

What does local SEO cost per month in 2026?

For one location, most businesses pay an agency $500 to $2,500 a month. Ahrefs puts freelancers at about $1,150 for local work. Our SEO pricing guide compares that with national SEO.

Business typeMonthly local SEO costOne-time setup
One location, quiet market$500 to $1,000$500 to $1,500
One location, busy market$1,500 to $2,500$1,000 to $3,000
2 to 10 locations$2,000 to $5,000Per location
11 to 50 locations$5,000 to $12,000+Per location

Nobody publishes solid survey data for multi-location work, so the bottom two rows are our own read, based on the model below.

What are you paying for at each location?

Some work you pay for once. The rest repeats for every address.

What’s in the fixed core?

Strategy, site structure, technical SEO fixes and reporting. One site needs one audit and one dashboard, whether you run 2 branches or 40.

What repeats for every branch?

Fixed core costs versus per-location costs in local SEO pricing

Why does the setup catch people out?

Take citations. BrightLocal’s Citation Builder charges from $3.20 a site, or $2 with bulk credits. Forty citations is about $128 per branch. Across 25 branches, that’s $3,200 before anyone’s paid to do the work.

How does local SEO pricing scale from 1 to 50 locations?

Every branch adds cost, but each should cost less than the last. The templates, reports and strategy already exist.

Run any quote through this model. It’s not our price list. Start with a $1,200 base, then add $400 a month each for branches 1 to 5, $300 for 6 to 10, $200 for 11 to 25 and $150 for 26 to 50.

LocationsMonthly totalCost per location
1$1,600$1,600
5$3,200$640
10$4,700$470
25$7,700$308
50$11,450$229

Now try a real quote. $9,000 a month for 10 branches is $900 a branch, almost double the model. Your market might justify that. Now you know what to ask.

Do tool costs scale the same way?

Depends on the tool. Semrush Local Pro charges $60 per location a month, so 50 branches comes to $3,000. BrightLocal’s Grow plan covers 41 to 50 locations for $370 a month on annual billing. Similar job, roughly eight times the price. Ask who’s paying for the tools.

When does onboarding get cheaper?

At 10 profiles. Google offers bulk verification from 10 profiles up, so nobody’s verifying branches one by one. Still being charged full setup per branch past that? Push back.

Is $1,500 a month enough for local SEO with several locations?

For one location in a normal market, usually yes. For several, almost never.

Split $1,500 across five branches and you get $300 each, before the fixed work is paid for. That keeps profiles tidy. It won’t buy new pages, reviews or local links. Our model puts five branches at about $3,200.

Just one location? Our small business SEO packages guide has a five-minute test for whether $1,500 will work.

Opening more branches this year? Send your locations and quotes. We’ll price the work branch by branch so you can compare properly. Get a multi-location SEO quote or book a 30-minute call.

Should you pay per location or a flat fee?

Per location, on top of a base fee. A flat “all locations” price means a two-branch business overpays, or branch 14 quietly gets nothing. Priced per location, a new branch is one more line on the invoice.

Before you sign, ask three things:

  • What does setup cost per branch, separately from the monthly fee?
  • How many pages, citations and review requests does each branch get a month?
  • How will the location pages be different from each other?

That last one matters. Google’s spam policies call out pages aimed at specific cities that all funnel to one page as doorway abuse. Fifty pages with only the city name changed isn’t work you should pay for. It’s a risk.

Per-location pricing versus flat-fee pricing for multi-location SEO

What makes a location page unique enough?

Swap the city name for another. If the page still reads true, it’s too thin. A real location page has things only that branch can say: the street it’s on and where to park, who runs it, which services that branch actually offers, its own hours, photos taken there, and reviews from its own customers. A branch manager can supply most of it in a 15-minute form. Cheap. Rewriting fifty thin pages after a spam update isn’t.

Our average SEO retainer guide covers the contract terms worth pushing back on.

Why does running local SEO apart from ads cost more?

Because each team pays for the other’s gaps. Lots of multi-location brands run Google Ads or Local Services Ads through one company and local SEO through another. The ads team bids on your brand name in cities where you already own the map pack, then sends the clicks to a location page nobody’s finished.

AI search makes it worse. ChatGPT and Google’s AI Overviews read the same reviews, categories and addresses. One wrong phone number across 30 listings shows up everywhere. Our generative engine optimization services check whether each branch gets recommended. For a free first look, try the AI visibility checker.

One full-stack team working from the same data stops you paying twice. Four separate vendors can’t.

What else do buyers ask about local SEO pricing?

How much does Google Business Profile management cost?

The profile is free. Software costs about $49 to $60 per location a month on BrightLocal Grow or Semrush Local Pro, and agency time for posts, photos and review replies comes on top.

Is local SEO worth paying for?

Usually, if a few extra jobs a month cover the fee at your margin. Our SEO ROI calculator works out your break-even point.

How much does local SEO cost for multiple locations?

Roughly $2,000 to $5,000 a month for 2 to 10 locations, and $5,000 to $12,000 or more for 11 to 50. Setup per branch is extra.

Is $1,500 a month enough for local SEO with five locations?

Rarely. That’s about $300 a branch. Enough for upkeep, not for new pages, reviews and links.

Should local SEO be priced per location?

Yes, with a base fee for the shared work. Then every new branch adds a cost you already know.

How should you budget for local SEO across locations?

Base fee, plus the per-location fee times your branches, plus setup for each. Then check that cost per branch drops as you add more. If it doesn’t, ask why. Want it done for you? Start with our local SEO services.
